Gone Away

I can't believe she's gone again, have I committed such a grievous sin?
Sit here wondering what could have been, as I pour myself another tonic & gin!

I know I made mistakes along the way, with another woman I did stray,
but in my mind it was next to her I lay, ask God for strength when I pray.

One more chance is all I ask, but forgiveness is not a simple task.
She thinks my repentance is just a mask, just like I hide my liquor in a flask.

She says it isn't just about me stepping out, we have each gone a different route,
She even had the nerve to say I'm a lout, and now she is giving another woman a shout!

Some bull dyke who owns her own shop, or is it a fem who works as a cop?
Maybe she's a janitor who works that mop, but I bet she don't dance to hip-hop!

You see that is how we met, I was drinking at the bar charging up my debt,
Watching her on the dance floor was making me wet, so I asked her to dance on a bet!

She agreed and then to my house we went, let me tell you- she is just a little bent,
worked me over until I was spent, I still recall her lingering scent.

Three years has come and gone, I think of her as I awake in the dawn,
I look out the window and see a fawn, on the outer edge of my lawn.

It reminds me of a child's innocence, the rhyme about a pocket full of sixpence,
or living the ideal life with a picket fence, suddenly - for an unknown reason I tense!

Why do I hear a key in the door? A shot - a puddle of blood on the floor!
I look up at her and ask, "What is this for"? Your life insurance fool - because you're dirt poor!

A tear forms in my left eye, as I realize she is leaving me here to die,
It won't do any good to cry, I pray to the Lord I don't go to hell to fry!

In my mind I know she has left, for a while she will act like she is bereft,
at acting she is quite deft, I didn't realize I had caused such a cleft!

I hear the sound of an ambulance, I wonder - do I have a chance?
I feel my heart begin to prance, I think I will have one more dance!

Now I am going to track her down, see who now looks like a clown,
as they handcuff her I see her frown - she was dressed up to go out on the town!

On her should I take pity? Move in with her girl in the big city?
I will introduce her to fi'ty, remember this is just a ditty!
