The Prayer

This road seems so long, yet before I know it another day is gone.
Time to relax and get some sleep, but for some reason it is never deep!

I wake when I hear the smallest sound, I wake when she is nowhere to be found.
I wake up from a bad dream, I wake up in my silent scream.

Get ready for another day, kneel on the floor and quickly pray.
Thank You Jesus for your love, please watch over me from above?

Run out the door jump in the car, running late, I'm glad work isn't that far.
Turn the key, the car doesn't start, please not now, have a heart!

Open up the hood like I know what to do, break my heel on my new shoe!
What else can go wrong? Then I hear my least favorite song.

"Dilemma" is the name of it, Now I really want to throw a fit.
Why is this happening to me? Sometimes from this life I just want to be free.

I go back inside and call my boss, she states that she can't handle the loss.
She tells me I need to find a way, then the power goes out to my dismay.

I have no way to communicate, Please Lord, not today, don't let this be my fate.
Then the lights flicker - my power is back! The news on the TV is talking about an attack!

Now I know why the Lord slowed me down - he was answering my prayer to keep me safe & sound. Thank you Lord for answering my prayer, and watching over me with such loving care!
