I seem to be fascinated lately with words that can be made from the same letters. I find it interesting how I can take these three words and use them in a paragraph or two and it make sense, yet on the surface, it seems the only commonality is the letters.
When I went to Egypt this past summer and visited the pyramids I was amazed by how large each stone was. I was also surprised by the tones and textures of these ancient wonders and took mental notes on how we reacted to the experience. Even though I was amazed at the size of each stone the pyramids themselves didn't quite astound me as I expected them too. I also thought they would be farther away from Cairo but instead Cairo is built right up to them. I think most of the pictures that we see are taken from the Sahara desert side but when you get there you will actually be on the other side.
We took a camel ride down to the Sphinx, which was a little more than a stone throw away. I was intrigued by the way a camel gets up and down. What you think is the knee is actually the ankle and it bends like the knee and then the knee bends backwards - more mental notes. The texture of the "ankle cap" is quite interesting. Observing the tones of the desert on the camel ride was an exhilirating experience or maybe it was just the fact I was riding a camel. The desert was vast but not a lot of variety.
The day after the pyramids we went horseback riding into the Sahara desert. Our guide called my horse, "Michael Jackson", that was just a nickname they gave to horses that were being stubborn. I think M. J. is more popular than most of us truly imagine. I guess anyone can be worked into a conversation or writing. The pyramids aren't from the stone age but I bet the builders were making mental notes in the process and the tones not just of the stone but of the attitudes of the people were vast.
